FASTING CURE,
NUTRITION
& DIETETICS

By voluntarily abstaining from solid food, your body switches to ‘nutrition from within’ during fasting. Metabolic products are mobilised and excreted. Therapeutic fasting has an anti-inflammatory, anti-rheumatic, anti-allergic and psychologically stabilising effect. In most cases, weight loss is a welcome side effect. Fasting is individually tailored to you. Together with your doctor, you choose the fasting option that suits you best: e.g. juice fasting with mineral-rich vegetable broths, freshly squeezed vegetable juices and herbal teas or fasting with milk and bread rolls.

Patients who are not allowed to or do not wish to fast can still achieve lasting metabolic relief with our vegetarian alkaline organic vitality cuisine. When selecting all the food we use, we attach great importance to organic cultivation and regionality. Our nutrition experts will show you how much fun healthy eating can be in the teaching kitchen, at lectures and during shopping training. On request, we can work out individual strategies with you in a personal consultation on how you can promote your health through a targeted diet.

FASTING CURE, NUTRITION & DIETETICS

HEALTHY FOOD IS
FOOD FOR OUR SOUL
IT MAKES US HAPPY!

‘Therapeutic fasting and switching to an alkaline, vegetable-rich diet creates the conditions in the body for the therapies and naturopathic applications of the clinic programmes to take full effect,’ says Andrea Chiappa, graduate ecotrophologist and head of the nutrition department. To ensure a lasting effect, the nutritional therapists use teaching kitchens, one-to-one discussions, lectures and shopping training sessions to explain how a healthier diet can also be achieved in everyday life in the long term. Together with the kitchen and service, the team aims to show that enjoyment and healthy eating are not a contradiction in terms.

HOLISTIC THERAPEUTIC FASTING & ITS POSITIVE MEDICAL EFFECTS

Therapeutic fasting, known as ‘surgery without a knife’, activates complex repair systems in the body that can have a positive effect on numerous illnesses and mood disorders. Therapeutic abstinence from solid food has been proven* to have a metabolism-relieving, anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving and vegetative calming effect. Fasting also has immune and hormone-modulating effects. Fasting therapy therefore offers a genuine, sustainable perspective, not only as a preventative measure, but also for those with chronic illnesses.

‘The criterion of life is the metabolism’

Metabolic Switch: Conversion of energy production

After around 13 hours without solid food, the body undergoes a remarkable change in energy production: After the organism has used up its sugar reserves, it falls back on its biological ‘emergency power generator’ and converts fat cells into ketone bodies. These ketones not only supply energy efficiently, but also activate the process of autophagy. The ‘metabolic switch’ therefore plays a decisive role in the fasting process.

Autophagy and the self-cleaning of the cell

A central mechanism that is activated during fasting is autophagy. This vital process, in which the cell encapsulates and excretes substances that are no longer needed, damaged or outdated - and in some cases even recycles them - runs continuously under genetic control. The self-cleaning process of the cell makes a decisive contribution to maintaining the health of the organism, but it declines in the course of life. This increases the risk of degenerative diseases such as cancer, dementia, muscle, infectious and liver diseases. In the mid-1990s, Japanese scientist Yoshinori Ohsumi was able to prove that fasting stimulates autophagy and was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work.

Mental health in focus

In addition to the physical aspects, therapeutic fasting also plays an important role in mental health. Relieving the metabolism leads to a reduction in the feeling of stress and supports the regulation of the autonomic nervous system. Fasting can therefore not only alleviate physical complaints, but also contribute to mental stabilisation.

OUR VEGETARIAN
ALKALINE ORGANIC VITAL CUISINE

Patients who are not allowed or do not wish to fast can achieve sustainable metabolic relief with our vegetarian alkaline organic vitality cuisine. We use high-quality organic and/or regional foods that are freshly and carefully prepared. In contrast to a protein-emphasised and therefore acid-forming diet, our organic vitality cuisine is vegetarian and rich in vegetables, salad and fruit - which provide a high content of alkaline-forming mineral compounds of potassium, calcium and magnesium. In this way, the body is supported in its natural deacidification process and supplied with a high density of bioactive vital substances (so-called secondary plant substances). Detoxification and purification processes are set in motion, the metabolism is activated and the immune system is strengthened.

In addition to various intermittent fasting methods, we also offer calorie-reduced menus. All components of the menus are prepared by hand.
